Draft law: age limit of 15 for social media from January 1, 2027
The Greek Cabinet was briefed on a draft law with an age limit of 15 for social media. The national AI strategy is among the plans for 2027.
Source of truthmedia.gov.gr/…/anakoinosi-tou-yfypourgo…The Greek Cabinet met on September 30, 2026 and was briefed on the draft law on minors' access to social media. The draft sets a minimum age of 15 and plans for it to take effect on January 1, 2027. It does not impose a single age-verification method; Kids.gov.gr Wallet and Gov.gr Wallet are named as examples, not as a requirement. Supervision goes to the National Council for Radio and Television and the Data Protection Authority, with no new body. At the same meeting, the ministries' draft action plans for 2027 were presented, built around 12 horizontal priorities, among them the national AI strategy and cybersecurity. What the strategy contains is not stated. For parents, the practical point is that the draft is not yet law.
