Greek Data Protection Authority: 2,611 complaints and advice on AI
Complaints rose 113% in eight months. The Authority sees more and more of them drafted with AI and asks for accuracy checks and no unnecessary personal data.
Source of truthdpa.gr/…/enimerosi-gia-ton-forto-kai-to…The Hellenic Data Protection Authority announced on October 1, 2026 that it received 2,611 complaints in the first eight months of 2026, against 1,227 in the same period of 2025, an increase of 113%. The Authority says use of AI applications to draft them is increasing significantly. It does not forbid it: it acknowledges that AI helps with organizing and wording a text. But it warns that lengthy texts with inaccuracies, doubtful legal arguments or AI hallucinations can hinder the assessment. It advises citizens not to enter unnecessary personal data into AI applications, and to check the information and legal references they produce. Examining a case may take several months, and the Authority expects no noticeable improvement for at least one year.
